Berat Castle
Berat Castle, also known as Kalaja e Beratit, dates back to the 4th century BC and was originally built by the Illyrians. Over the centuries, it was expanded and fortified by the Byzantines and later the Ottomans, becoming a stronghold that protected the city through numerous invasions. Inside its walls, you’ll find remnants of 13th-century Orthodox churches, a mosque, and traditional houses
